Cheryl and Nick Dean are award-winning independent filmmakers and co-founders of Spindrift Images, a production company dedicated to telling powerful ocean stories. To extend the impact of their work, they founded Spindrift Images Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit using film, science, and advocacy to inspire people to protect ocean wildlife and ecosystems.
Cheryl has been effectively communicating scientific discoveries throughout her career and has been the president of the San Diego Undersea Film Exhibition since 2015.
Nick holds a science Ph.D. with over 30 years of research before turning to filmmaking. They both started out filming underwater before venturing topside to direct and produce together.Â
